Build a care card before buying supplies
Put the model number, serial number, manual revision and manufacturer contact on one page. Under those details, record each approved task separately: top-surface cleaning, hair removal, belt care, bearing care and hardware inspection. Leave a field blank when the manual does not answer it. An honest blank tells you what to ask; a guessed interval can become an instruction that someone in the household follows for years.
Add the approved cleaning product or lubricant's exact name, the component it is intended for and where the instructions explain its use. A bottle supplied with a treadmill is useful identification evidence, so retain its label. Do not infer that every replacement bottle marketed for treadmills has the same formulation, or that the product used on one component is appropriate elsewhere.

Keep cleaning access separate from operating access

Can you use silicone oil or a household spray?
Only use a product the manufacturer approves for that component. “Silicone” on a label does not by itself identify a suitable concentration, carrier or application method. A household spray is not a safe substitute merely because it loosens a squeak. Deal with spills and damage as separate events

For shared equipment in a professional setting, obtain an appropriate cleaning protocol from the manufacturer and the responsible veterinary or facility professional. Record the work so the next decision is easier
Use the maintenance log to record the date, component, approved product, quantity when specified and observations before and after the task. Save receipts and support instructions outside the browser as well. If a symptom recurs, that history can reveal whether it followed transport, a service change or a spill. It is useful evidence for support, not a substitute for diagnosis.
