List the usable moving area, front obstructions and side structure of the machine you own. Overall frame length is not belt length. Do not use a still photo of a dog standing on the deck as proof of moving fit: it cannot show whether the dog crowds the front housing or rear edge while walking.

Read the intended-use instructions first

The SOLE F63 manual, for example, restricts operation to the intended purpose and describes human use with handrails, shoes and a clothing-mounted safety tether. A veterinary opinion about your dog and a manufacturer’s statement about its machine answer different questions. You need both when either is unresolved. Adding homemade rails or extending a safety tether does not create manufacturer approval and may introduce new moving-part or clearance problems.

Compare controls from the handler’s position

A human user normally reaches the console from the belt. A dog’s handler remains off the moving surface. Stand where you would supervise and ask whether you can see the animal, reach the stop and operate settings without leaning over moving parts. Do this assessment with the power off.

For dog equipment, verify how the safety system is meant to be arranged for that model and dog. A remote may be convenient, but do not assume it is the only stopping method or that every remote behaves the same way. Ask for a demonstration with no animal aboard and resolve conflicting setup advice before use.

A dog-specific alternative still needs screening

The GoPet PetRun family is a reasonable comparison starting point because it publishes running-area dimensions and canine equipment features. Compare access to the stationary belt, belt width, the available low-speed settings and whether the room allows you to supervise comfortably. Include delivery and service arrangements. If a purpose-built model fixes a short belt but cannot fit in your home with the necessary clearance, it has not solved the purchasing problem.

Decide whether buying anything makes sense

Try writing two separate lists: what indoor exercise problem you are solving, and what the dog still needs outside the treadmill. If occasional bad weather is the only issue, a purchase may be less useful than an indoor enrichment plan and access to supervised equipment when needed.

A dog treadmill can be investigated as an additional activity; it should not be bought on the assumption that one machine can replace every aspect of an outdoor routine.

If you proceed, favor the machine with documented intended use, adequate usable dimensions and controls you can manage. Keep a copy of the manual and the seller’s written answers. They provide a much stronger basis for the decision than an entertaining video of a dog using someone else’s home gym.
